Sexual Abuse of Children

Brene Brown has been my heroine for some time now. I have written about her work in this space on several occasions. Concerning the sexual abuse scandal at Penn State, she speaks my mind. No other words necessary.

Perhaps this scandal will give me the courage to post about my own sexual abuse at age five. Stay tuned.

  1. Geez, Brenda, so in addition to everything else you've survived, you're adding sexual abuse to the list? You keep this up and I'll have to hand over my "I SURVIVED DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING" pin to you. It was given to me, but I'm thinking you're far more deserving.

I've become acquainted with Brene Brown's work this past month from several different sources. I wasn't aware you had referred to her previously. Like you, she's definitely someone worth listening to. Her TED TALK on vulnerability is one of my favorites: http://www.ted.com/speakers/brene_brown.html

  2. Yes, Peggy, I have been a Brene fan for some time now. Don't even remember where I first heard of her--maybe O Magazine? Currently teaching her book, "The Gifts of Imperfection" to my spiritual life group. We'll go on to "I Thought it was just me---but it wasn't" when we finished this one.

I have never publicly written about my sexual abuse. I think you just gave me the shove I needed.

    Much love!
